We decided to postpone to the rain date because the models showed there was a chance of rain in the mid-morning. Well, turns out that the models &#8211; every one of them &#8211; were inaccurate. At this point looks like if there is any rain whatsoever, it&#8217;ll come mid- to late-afternoon.</p>

There could be value in getting AREDN operational in MoCo, and I may be interested in participating. Along with your research I suggest also looking into MAIPN (Mid-Atlantic IP Network) <a target='_blank' href="https://maipn.org/" rel="nofollow">https://maipn.org/</a>. It is a similar but different network in the area.</p>

My frustration is managing two systems. I really like the idea of not having two HTs on my belt when I walk away from the RV. I&#8217;ll do this. Give it one more year of harrassing; if I fail, I go for the GMRS backup plan.&hellip;</p>

They do not feel the need or have the desire to get the license. Others are working on getting the license, our long term plan is to use the GMRS (set and forget on a channel) and simple training on pressing the button. The Jeep and other houses have a GMRS so the older members can call one&hellip;</p>

<p>When we are in the woods, we do carry GMRS radios just as a precaution in case we lose cell service and we get separated. I admit that at home, in the city, we do not have a backup plan. If cell goes out, we&#8217;re cooked. I&#8217;m thinking that this might be an&hellip;</p>

I have been involved with EmCom/EmComm for two decades. I have seen it both ways.  FEMA has listed it both ways too.  Depending on who you talk to at the ARRL, it has been listed both ways yet mostly as EmCom.   I usually use EmCom myself.
