    Field Day planning

    I’m curious how Field Day planning actually happens for different people.

    A few things worth comparing notes on:

    How far out do you start planning? The week before, a month before, or is it something that runs all year for you?

    Once you get going, how much actual time goes into it? Counting antenna work, logging setup, power planning, and packing, what’s your real total hours?

    Do you run this solo, or is it a team or club effort? If it’s a group, how many times do you meet throughout the year? Or, is all your planning and coordination done online via e.g. a reflector?

    If you want to go further, a few more things to chime in on:

    • Biggest headache, power, antennas, RF noise, weather, and how you handle it
    • Bonus points you chase, or skip on purpose
    • One change you’ve made from a past Field Day that paid off
    • Advice for an operator doing their first Field Day

    Always interesting to see how differently people approach preparations for the same 24 hours.

Ham Community does not tolerate prejudice. We are all different, that's fine. Remember, duty and honor are built on respect. Use this reporting category sparingly and only if you are quite certain that the member is being openly and hurtfully prejudiced.
