IC-7300 front-end
IC-7300 front-end
Many have purchased, and continue to purchase, the ICOM IC-7300. As one of the first SDR rigs, it was, and continues to be, wildly popular despite some complaints regarding the rig’s front-end performance. What are your thoughts? Specifically, I’d like to hear about your experiences with:
1. Strong Signal Handling: How does the IC-7300 perform in crowded band conditions? Have you noticed any overload issues or intermodulation distortion?
2. Sensitivity: Does the front end pick up weak signals effectively, even in challenging conditions like noisy urban environments or during contests?
3. Band Pass Filtering: How well do the built-in filters manage to separate signals across various bands?
4. Dynamic Range: Have you observed any limitations in its ability to handle both very strong and very weak signals simultaneously?
5. Noise Reduction and Rejection: How effective is the IC-7300 at dealing with QRN, QRM, or general band noise?
Feel free to share specific use cases, such as contesting, DXing, or casual operation, and whether you needed to make adjustments to optimize performance.
Thanks in advance for sharing your insights. Your feedback will help operators make a more informed decision!
